About this project:

This 19th century waterfront mansion received an update that included a sun room and master bedroom suite. Extra care was taken to ensure that the finished structure looked complete and whole. This included matching trim to historically accurate profiles, as well as custom windows and materials. The end result is an addition that fits well within the existing architecture without trying to overpower it.

We had to get it right. We wanted to maximize views to the water while still maintaining privacy. It's possible to have both. The sun room features wall to wall glazing and a working fireplace, along with coffered ceilings, built-in seating and hardwood floors. Each space is over 9 feet in height, lending itself to a feeling of grandeur and poise.

The master bedroom suite includes a large walk-in shower, ornate soaker tub, built-in casework and large glazed double doors leading to a balcony that overlooks the Niantic River. This balcony boasts a rooftop fireplace perfect for romantic evenings near the Long Island Sound.
